Medak: A 21-year-old man died in a road accident while two others sustained serious injuries at Kistapur village of Kulcharam Mandal on Sunday after a speeding car hit the two-wheeler they were riding on. Mohammad Atheer Khan of Manikonda in Hyderabad died on the spot while a woman and another youngster, who were pillion riding on the same bike were injured. They were rushed to the Government Hospital Narsapur. The condition of the injured woman was critical.

Beneficiaries, who apply for a loan of Rs.50,000 will be given Rs.40,000 as subsidy and remaining Rs.10,000 as loan by the banker. Those who apply for loans of Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2 lakh will be given 80 per cent subsidy and the remaining will be a loan from the banker. Those who apply for loans of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, will be given 70 per cent subsidy and the remaining amount as a loan. Since bankers have to check the repayment capability of all applicants before selecting beneficiaries, the unemployed youth are worried that they may not get selected due poor CIBIL scores. The CIBIL score is a three-digit numeric summary of one’s credit history. The score is derived using the credit history found in the CIBIL Report (also known as CIR i.e Credit Information Report). A CIR is an individual’s credit payment history across loan types and credit institutions over a period of time. In this case, many applicants, mostly unemployed and from backward classes, are those who could not repay their previous loans in time due to financial issues. And this has affected their CIBIL scores. The applicants are now urging the government to ignore the CIBIL score while selecting beneficiaries for the scheme. Meanwhile, District Rural Development Organisation officials have completed the screening of the applications which they would forward to selected bankers in their respective districts for their screening. While over 49,000 have applied for the benefit in Sangareddy, more than 32,000 applied in Medak district. Officials said they would discuss the selection criteria during the district consultative committee before finalising the list.

In Medak’s Pathur village, a car allegedly driven by a police officer hit a bike and a school bus, injuring the biker and causing minor injuries to schoolchildren. Eyewitnesses accused the cop of rash driving, sparking protests at the scene. A car driver went on a rampage at Pathur village in Medak mandal on Monday, hitting a two-wheeler and a school bus. The bike rider had been entering the main road from an approach road when the speeding car collided with him. The school bus driver swerved and stopped in time, preventing a serious collision. The car, bearing registration number TS 35H 0895 and reportedly owned by a police officer, had “police” written on both the front and rear windscreens. Local police, who rushed to the spot, held the bike rider and school bus driver responsible for the incident, drawing strong protests from eyewitnesses. They alleged that rash and negligent driving by the cop in the car caused the mishap.

Recent crackdowns in erstwhile Medak district revealed a widespread ganja network, from wholesalers to retailers targeting students and industrial workers, despite police efforts. Recent crackdowns on smuggling, distribution and sale of ganja (cannabis) in the district has revealed a vast network, which has taken the police by surprise with the network found to be so widespread that the ganja peddlers had supply systems in place in every mandal of the erstwhile district. According to the police, the peddlers, who were focusing on students and industrial workers, had developed a network to reach customers in every nook and cranny of the district. The ganja was mostly being brought from the Odisha-Andhra border to Medak district via Khammam, Nalgonda and the Outer Ring Road in huge quantities. It was then sold to wholesalers, who were the main sources for selling the ganja in certain locations. The wholesalers were selling the ganja in batches of a few kilograms to retailers who would be the go-to destination for cannabis in colonies and villages.

Students of the Tribal Welfare Residential Sports School for Girls in Chegunta protested the absence of a mathematics teacher for Intermediate classes. The protest disrupted traffic, while officials said a replacement teacher would soon be transferred from Kondamallepally. The students said they were struggling to prepare for their examinations as no mathematics teacher had been assigned to teach Intermediate classes since the beginning of the academic year. The protestors blocked the road for some time, causing traffic disruption on both sides.
