Unidentified miscreants brutally murdered a 45-year-old auto driver, Thota Kamalakar, at Kamalapur village in Medak district while he was asleep. His children discovered the body. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation with forensic support. Medak: In a gruesome incident, unidentified assailants hacked a man to death with sharp weapons at Kamalapur village in Pedda Shankarampet mandal on Thursday. The victim was identified as Thota Kamalakar (45), an auto driver whose wife died recently. He was attacked while sleeping on the premises of his house. The murder came to light early in the morning when Kamalakar’s two children woke up and found him lying in a pool of blood. Upon receiving information, Inspector Renuka and Sub-Inspector Praveen visited the spot and registered a case. The police pressed into service a forensic team and a dog squad to assist in the investigation. The body was shifted to the government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

Police solved the murder of Anil, who was shot dead in Medak, revealing that seven men — including three former friends — conspired to kill him over harassment and land disputes. Old friends of Marelli Anil (28), who was shot dead on the night of June 14 at Variguntham village in Kulcharam mandal of Medak district, turned against him and conspired to eliminate him due to his harassment and highhanded behaviour. The police on Monday cracked the case and revealed that seven individuals, including three of Anil’s former close friends, plotted and executed his murder. The assailants reportedly could no longer tolerate Anil’s harassment and land-related disputes. According to Medak SP DV Srinivas Rao, the main accused, Somannagari Ravindar Reddy of Pythara village, was once closely associated with Anil, who was also friends with Padepu Nagaraju and his brother Nagabushanam. However, over time, Anil allegedly began to harass the trio and encroached upon Ravindar Reddy’s lands. Anil, who had set up a petrol pump on Ravindar Reddy’s land, also took 12 acres on lease from him but later refused to return the land. Additionally, he reportedly obstructed the sale of plots developed on 3.5 acres at Rangampet village, adjacent to Pythara. The SP said Anil had become a liability for Nagaraju, who harboured political ambitions, and was allegedly spreading false information against the trio. Frustrated, the three decided to eliminate him. Nagaraju, who ran a workshop in Medchal, roped in two of his employees, Shabuddin and Chinna, both from Vijayawada, and two other friends, Ashok and Md Fareed from Medak. Fareed purchased a 0.32 pistol and 10 live rounds from Nawabganj in Bihar for Rs 1.5 lakh, with the help of a local contact. On July 14, Nagaraju, Shabuddin, and Chinna tracked Anil to Variguntham and shot him dead. SP Srinivas Rao said that during the course of investigation, police interrogated nearly 50 individuals who were linked to Anil in various land settlement disputes across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and other districts.

Police and ICDS officials busted three infant trafficking cases in Medak district over the past three months. Investigations revealed hospital staff and middlemen allegedly facilitated illegal infant sales, targeting financially vulnerable tribal families and childless couples seeking adoption. The gangs that were facilitating the sale of infants were on the prowl in and around both government and private maternity hospitals across Medak district. The Medak police, and Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) officials have busted three such sales of infants in Medak district during the past three months. Shockingly, the staff working in the hospitals were acting as facilitators for the sale of the infants. The childless parents were approaching the staff, who were interested in making some money by acting as facilitators. In the first incident reported in February this year, a tribal couple of Lingasanipally Thanda, sold their just born son to a childless couplefrom Kamareddy district, for Rs 1.70 lakh. When the Anganwadi teacher and ANM inquired about the missing infant, they had tracked down the infant in Kamareddy. The police arrested the persons who were involved in the sales.

The couple got Bhavani married to Kanakaraju a year ago. However, the young couple had differences within months after their marriage. A woman was smothered to death with a pillow, allegedly by her husband, at Mirudoddi in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim was Pusa Bhavani (23) while the accused was her husband Pusa Kanakaraju (26). Bhavani was the daughter of Renuka and Tirumalaiah, residents of Chelmeda in Nizampet of Medak district. The couple got Bhavani married to Kanakaraju a year ago. However, the young couple had differences within months after their marriage. Following such one argument, Kanakaraju is said to have killed her at their house. The parents and relatives of Bhavani reached Kanakaraju’s house and demanded action against him. They staged a rasta roko demanding the police to hand over the accused to them. The police said though preliminary investigations indicated a murder, they were waiting for the autopsy report. A case has been registered while efforts were on to nab the accused, who is absconding.
