Sri Kethaki Sangameshwara Temple

Sri Kethaki Sangameshwara Temple

Sri Kethaki Sangameshwara Temple is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Jharasangam village, Medak District, Telangana, India. It is famed for its self-manifested (swayambhu) Shiva Lingam and the unique presence of the Kethaki flower, which is rarely used in Shiva worship elsewhere.

History and legend

According to local lore, the temple dates back several centuries and is associated with the discovery of a naturally formed Shiva Lingam at a confluence of three rivers—thus the name “Sangameshwara.” The site’s sanctity is enhanced by the Kethaki plant (pandanus odoratissimus), which is traditionally not offered to Shiva except at this temple, believed to have divine approval.
